(Picture) The Earle Theatre during the mid-twentieth century, which was a popular entertainment spot in Taneytown. Theatre owner, George Shriner, had remodeled the former Hessons Department Store to accommodate the theatre and a shirt factory which operated on the upper floor. The theatre closed in 1954 soon after a drive-in theatre opened nearby.
